Hunter's Mark reveals stealth
Why it ranks where it does on Open-World PvP

Beast Mastery kills mainly through the pet: Unleashed Fury, Ferocity, Frenzy and Bestial Wrath's +50% for 18 s, with Rapid Fire on top. Critical strikes in PvP are no longer reduced, but a pet that is killed or kited takes the burst with it. Control is Intimidation, a 3 s pet stun, plus Concussive Shot, Wing Clip and Freezing Trap.

The pet is a second body to attack and Spirit Bond regenerates a little health, and Feign Death is the only emergency tool; Deterrence is in the Survival tree. Disengage only reduces threat, so it cannot leap away. Against two, the pet, a trap and Intimidation peel one more, but three overwhelm it. Aspect of the Cheetah, a long opener and Hunter's Mark for stealth let it pick fights, with no self-heal, limited mana and ammo to pay for.

It is not B because its burst depends on a pet that can be killed, so burst scores 3, and with survival and sustain both at 2 it falls apart when caught. 2.75 is 0.50 short of B.

Why it ranks where it does on Open-World PvP Leveling

Levels 1 to 9 are petless with Raptor Strike, Auto Shot and Arcane Shot at 6. The pet comes at 10, Deadly Aspects and Unleashed Fury follow, Summon Hawk at 25 and Bestial Wrath not until 40. Control builds slowly: Concussive Shot at 8, Wing Clip at 12, Freezing Trap at 20, Frost Trap at 28 and Intimidation at 30.

The pet is the defense from 10, with Mend Pet at 12, Aspect of the Monkey at 4 and Feign Death at 30, and no Deterrence in this tree. Against two, Freezing Trap at 20 plus the pet is the plan. It opens with Hunter's Mark at 6 and Auto Shot from range, and Aspect of the Cheetah at 20 helps it move. There is no self-heal, and the pet and traps hold a hub only weakly.

It is not B because its burst waits on the pet and Bestial Wrath at 40, and it is weak at holding a point, so survival, sustain and objectives score 2. 2.75 is 0.50 short of B.

Races

The Hunter’s races as Races PvP ranks them, best first.

Alliance

  1. Human: Will to Survive is the only full stun break in the game, and Ruthless and Perception add steady crit and stealth detection.
  2. Dwarf: Stoneform is the strongest defensive racial of any race, and the widest class choice helps, but burst and mobility are the weakest.
  3. Night Elf: Shadowmeld, extra stealth and speed give the joint best mobility of any race, and Elune's Light is a crit burst, but it breaks nothing.
  4. Skyborne (High Order): Wind Blessed gives steady haste, but High Order has no control break, no defensive and only a glide for mobility.

Horde

  1. Orc: Blood Fury is the strongest burst cooldown of any race, and Hardiness and Shatter Curse give some breaks and defense, but no mobility.
  2. Tauren: War Stomp and Plainsrunning give the best mobility and Endurance adds health, but it breaks nothing and has the weakest burst.
  3. Skyborne (Windshaper): Wind Blessed gives steady haste and Skysight a 30 second sprint, but it has no control break and no defensive.
  4. Troll: Berserking is a burst for seven classes, but Troll has no control break or mobility and Rapid Regeneration works out of combat.

What we don’t know yet

At 60

Rated on assumptions:

  • Everything at 60 is projected; nobody has played past the beta cap of 30.
  • Bestial Wrath at 40 and Summon Hawk's two hawks are past the cap and are projected from client data.
  • Whether Feign Death drops a player target is untested.
  • The PvP trinket's effect is not stated.

What would move it: Measured level-60 pet damage that survives a focused attack, or documented diminishing returns on traps and Intimidation.

While leveling

Rated on assumptions:

  • Bestial Wrath at 40 is past the beta cap of 30 and is projected.
  • Summon Hawk at 25 follows the own-tree order and is projected.
  • Whether Feign Death drops a player target is untested.

What would move it: Play past level 30 showing Bestial Wrath and Summon Hawk arriving as projected, or measured pet survival against players.
