Beast Mastery abilities 22

IconAbilityLevelChangeWhat it does
Auto Shot1As Classic Damage

Automatically shoots the target until cancelled.

Raptor Strike1Changed Damage

A strong attack that deals melee weapon damage plus 70.

What to know: Rank 1 costs 10 mana (Classic 15) and the bonus damage was re-tuned down (70 at the top rank, Classic 140). Blizzard made it instant early in development and found it too strong for Marksmanship melee weaving, so it was changed back.

Ranks at level: 1 1 · 2 8 · 3 16 · 4 24 · 5 32 · 6 40 · 7 48 · 8 56

Serpent Sting4Changed Damage

Stings the target, causing 555 Nature damage over 15 sec. Only one Sting per Hunter can be active on any one target.

What to know: Changed: scales with ranged attack power (15% over the duration), its ticks can crit and it recalculates instead of snapshotting. Low ranks do less flat damage than Classic; the top rank is unchanged.

Ranks at level: 1 4 · 2 10 · 3 18 · 4 26 · 5 34 · 6 42 · 7 50 · 8 58 · 9 60

Arcane Shot6Changed Damage

An instant shot that causes 217 Arcane damage.

What to know: Changed: no longer shares a cooldown with Aimed Shot, scales with 10% of ranged attack power, and higher base damage (217 at rank 8, Classic 183). Shares its 6-second cooldown with Summon Hawk.

Ranks at level: 1 6 · 2 12 · 3 20 · 4 28 · 5 36 · 6 44 · 7 52 · 8 60

Hunter's Mark6Changed Damage Utility

Places the Hunter's Mark on the target, increasing the Ranged Attack Power of all attackers against that target by 71. In addition, the target of this ability can always be seen by the hunter whether it stealths or turns invisible. The target also appears on the mini-map. Lasts for 2 min.

What to know: Improved Hunter's Mark is baseline, so ranks 1–3 give 26/59/98 ranged attack power (+30% on Classic). Client oddity: rank 4 at 58 reads 71, less than rank 3; probably a tooltip error.

Ranks at level: 1 6 · 2 22 · 3 40 · 4 58

Aspect of the Hawk10Changed Buffs

The hunter takes on the aspects of a hawk, increasing Ranged Attack Power by 120. Only one Aspect can be active at a time.

What to know: Your ranged aspect. Client oddity: rank 6 (58) reads 55, below rank 5's 90; probably a tooltip error. Rank 7 at 60 gives 120 as in Classic. Deadly Aspects adds a 30% ranged attack speed proc.

Ranks at level: 1 10 · 2 18 · 3 28 · 4 38 · 5 48 · 6 58 · 7 60

What to know: Usable in combat, 30-second cooldown, shared with Explosive Trap. Survival keeps it on the target.

Ranks at level: 1 16 · 2 26 · 3 36 · 4 46 · 5 56

Mongoose Bite16Changed Damage

Counterattack the enemy for melee weapon damage plus 57. Can only be performed after you dodge.

What to know: Changed: now weapon damage plus a bonus (15/22/37/57) instead of flat damage. Usable after you dodge, or when Expose Prey activates it on a Hunter's Marked target.

Ranks at level: 1 16 · 2 30 · 3 44 · 4 58

Multi-Shot18Changed Damage

Fires several missiles, hitting 3 targets. Multi-Shot shares its cooldown with Aimed Shot.

What to know: Changed: one rank only, a 0.5-second cast (was instant), a 6-second cooldown (was 10) shared with Aimed Shot, and a cost of 13.9% of base mana.

Aimed Shot20Now baseline Damage

An aimed shot that increases ranged damage by 166. Aimed Shot shares its cooldown with Multi-Shot.

What to know: Now baseline at 20 (a Marksmanship talent in Classic). 2-second cast instead of 3, and lower bonus damage per rank (20 to 166, Classic 70 to 600). It shares its 6-second cooldown with Multi-Shot, not Arcane Shot (Blizzard).

Ranks at level: 1 20 · 2 28 · 3 36 · 4 44 · 5 52 · 6 60

Disengage20Changed Utility

Attempts to disengage from the target by reducing threat. More effective than Disengage (Rank 2). Disables auto-attack.

What to know: Threat reduction doubled. The tooltip says it disables auto-attack. Melee range, 5-second cooldown.

Ranks at level: 1 20 · 2 34 · 3 48

Freezing Trap20Changed Utility

Place a Frost trap that freezes the first enemy that approaches, preventing all action for up to 20 sec. Any damage caused will break the ice. Trap will exist for 1 min. Only one Frost trap can be active at a time.

What to know: Usable in combat now, but the cooldown is 30 seconds (Classic: 15). Placed at your feet. Frost traps and Fire traps have separate cooldowns (Blizzard).

Ranks at level: 1 20 · 2 40 · 3 60

Feign death which may trick enemies into ignoring you. Lasts 6 min. If not cancelled, after 6 min you will actually die.

What to know: The 70205 tooltip adds: "If not cancelled, after 6 min you will actually die." Survival Tactics makes it less likely to be resisted.

Intimidation30Beast Mastery talent, tier 5Talent Tank Utility

Command your pet to Stun the target for 3 sec on its next successful attack, which also gains 100% increased critical strike chance. Generates high threat.

What to know: Beast Mastery's 21-point talent: your pet's next hit stuns for 3 seconds with +100% crit chance, and "Generates high threat". Requires Bestial Swiftness.

Lacerate30New Damage

Wounds the target causing them to bleed for 406 damage over 21 sec.

What to know: Unconfirmed: check your trainer at 30. The client lists a new Survival bleed at 30, 40, 50 and 60 (147 damage over 21 seconds at rank 1), and datamined ability lists show it as a trainer spell. But no trainer source or cost is known, it was missing from all four Hunter trainers' teach lists checked, no player has reported learning it, and Blizzard never mentioned it. Don't plan around it until someone confirms. Not the same as Lacerating Strikes, Survival's 31-point talent.
