A Bear until 20, then a Cat with Prowl and Dash, but its stun waits until Pounce at 36 and it drops to Bear to survive two.

Leader of the Pack and Rebirth
Why it ranks where it does on Open-World PvP

Cat opens from Prowl with Pounce, a 2 s stun, or Ravage, then Shred, Rake, Rip and Ferocious Bite on combo points. Berserk makes Primal Bite hit three targets with no cooldown and adds crit chance to builders. Control is thin: Pounce is the only stun in Cat, Bash is Bear only, Cat's Feral Charge is a leap behind the target on a 30 s cooldown that neither roots nor interrupts, and there are no roots in the Feral tree.

Shifts break Polymorph and snares, Dash gives +60% speed and Feral Swiftness +30%, and Nature's Grasp and Barkskin help, but there is no heal in form and a heal costs 55% of base mana to leave and re-enter. Against two it can run or drop to Bear, with no peel. It picks the fight, since Prowl, Dash, Feral Swiftness and Faerie Fire answer stealth. It bandages and eats after fights, and is a fast runner with Leader of the Pack and Rebirth.

It is not B because once its opener is spent it has no stun, no heal and no peel, so control and outnumbered both score 2. 3.00 is 0.25 short of B.

StrengthsWeaknesses

Why it ranks where it does on Open-World PvP Leveling

Bear Form at 10 does the early work, with Maul and Swipe. Cat Form comes at 20 with Claw, Rip, Prowl and Shred rank 1, Ravage at 32 and Ferocious Bite at 32. Control starts with Bash at 14 and Feral Charge at 20 in Bear (Cat's Feral Charge is a leap with no root or interrupt), and the first Cat stun is Pounce at 36.

Bear Form from 10 is a tank body, shifts break snares, Frenzied Regeneration comes at 36 and Barkskin at 44. In a two-on-one it must leave Cat for Bear. It has no stealth until Prowl at 20, then Dash at 26 and Pounce at 36, so it opens as Bear before 20. Healing means leaving form at 55% of base mana a shift, and its Rebirth and Bash are Balance's kit too, with Challenging Roar needing Bear.

It is not B because its first Cat stun comes at 36, it must change to Bear to survive two players, and it heals only by leaving form, so outnumbered, sustain and objectives score 2. 2.80 is 0.45 short of B.

Races

The Druid’s races as Races PvP ranks them, best first.

Alliance

  1. Night Elf: Shadowmeld, extra stealth and speed give the joint best mobility of any race, and Elune's Light is a crit burst, but it breaks nothing.
  2. Skyborne (High Order): Wind Blessed gives steady haste, but High Order has no control break, no defensive and only a glide for mobility.

Horde

  1. Tauren: War Stomp and Plainsrunning give the best mobility and Endurance adds health, but it breaks nothing and has the weakest burst.
  2. Skyborne (Windshaper): Wind Blessed gives steady haste and Skysight a 30 second sprint, but it has no control break and no defensive.

What we don’t know yet

At 60

Rated on assumptions:

  • Everything at 60 is projected; nobody has played past the beta cap of 30.
  • Pounce ranks at 46 and 56 and Berserk are past the cap and are projected from client data.
  • Cat's Feral Charge (a leap behind the target, 30 s cooldown, no root or interrupt) comes from Blizzard's class deep dive; there is no client tooltip for it, and it is untested against players.
  • Barkskin at 44 is projected.

What would move it: Cat's Feral Charge leap measured in the open test, or documented diminishing returns on Pounce.

While leveling

What would move it: Play past level 30 showing Pounce and Ravage arriving as projected, or Cat's Feral Charge leap measured in play.
