World of Warcraft: Forever · class guide
Feral Cat Druid
Melee damage
Bleeds and
Shred from behind, with
Shifting Power turning mana into energy. Weapon damage now counts in form. About 5% below the pure classes by design.
A Cat builds combo points with
Shred from behind (or
Claw), keeps
Rake and
Rip bleeding, and finishes with
Ferocious Bite from 32. There is no Tiger's Fury;
Shifting Power gives 40 energy for 55% of base mana on a 16-second cooldown (8 with Improved Shifting Power), so Intellect, Innervate and mana potions matter again.
Furor keeps your energy when you shift out to heal, but quick out-and-back shifts gain nothing.
Berserk at 40 gives combo-point builders 100% more crit for 15 seconds. Cats have no cleave by design, and your weapon's damage counts in Cat Form.
Strengths and weaknesses
| Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
| Bleeds and Shred give steady single-target melee damage, and weapon damage counts in form | Damage is about 5% below the pure classes by design |
| Prowl lets you slip past packs while levelling from 20 | Shifting Power turns mana into energy, so Intellect, Innervate and mana potions matter |
| Forms are immune to Disarm and break roots and slows | No cleave, so packs are slow work |
| Berserk at 40 gives combo-point builders 100% more crit for 15 seconds | Powershifting macros gain nothing, as Furor restores only the energy you had |
| Weapon quality sets the damage, and you compete with other melee classes for weapons |
Stat priority
- Weapon damage
- Hit
- Critical strike
- Strength
- Agility
- Stamina
Weapon DPS first (its speed doesn't matter in form), then hit, crit, Strength and Agility; Intellect and spell power last. Alternatively, put Agility first (attack power, crit and armour in one), then Strength and Stamina. Cat Form gives only 12 attack power plus Agility.
Do this
- Use Shifting Power below 60 energy, never at the cap.
- Stand a little back when shredding until the parry-from-behind known issue is fixed.
- Carry the highest-DPS weapon you can; its speed doesn't matter in form.
- With Wolfshead Helm (5 energy) each Shifting Power gives 45 energy. Shifting Power can't be used at full energy.
Watch out for
- Old powershifting macros gain nothing: Furor only restores the energy you had, plus 10 per second spent out of form (the stored energy also survives a trip through Bear Form).
- Builds that list Tiger's Fury or King of the Jungle are out of date.
- Bear keeps your stored Cat energy (Furor), but Bear Form still stops energy regenerating.
- The Cat Feral Charge is a leap behind the target; it doesn't interrupt.
