World of Warcraft: Forever · class guide
Feral Bear Druid
Tank
A rage tank with
Primal Bite,
Swipe and, from 42,
Lacerate. Threat bonus +50%, but pack threat is untested since the increase.
A bear makes threat with
Primal Bite (the renamed Mangle: high threat, 6-second cooldown, roughly doubled),
Swipe on up to three targets, and
Maul with spare rage;
Lacerate adds a stacking bleed from 42 and
Berserk makes Primal Bite hit three targets with no cooldown from 40. Bear and Dire Bear Form carry a +50% threat bonus, Feral Instinct no longer adds threat, and Swipe gains only 3% of attack power. Rage from damage taken works and crits give +100% Rage. Defence is armour and Stamina:
Frenzied Regeneration heals up to your full health from rage,
Barkskin works in form, and forms are immune to Disarm. Your weapon's damage counts in Bear Form, and more damage means more threat.
Strengths and weaknesses
| Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
| Rage tank with a high-threat Primal Bite and Swipe on up to three targets | Pack threat at the +50% bear threat bonus is untested |
| Frenzied Regeneration heals up to full health from rage, and Barkskin works in form | No snare and no interrupt, apart from a Bear Feral Charge interrupt that is untested |
| Defence rests on armour and Stamina, and forms are immune to Disarm | Swipe covers only three enemies, so large packs need focus fire |
| Bear Form is learned at 10, so you can tank dungeons early | Armour and Rage numbers in forms are affected by known issues, so tankiness is hard to judge |
| Threat depends on weapon damage, so a poor weapon means less threat |
Stat priority
- Armour
- Stamina
- Agility
- Defense
- Weapon damage
- Hit
Stamina and armour first (Bear Form multiplies the armour on leather), then Agility (dodge and armour), then Defense; the weapon's damage counts for threat. At 60, Defense first for the crit cap. Defense above five times your level also feeds Thick Hide.
Do this
- Shift before the pull: forms are immune to Disarm, and Furor gives 10 rage on entering Bear.
- Pre-HoT yourself before pulling; Rejuvenation threat helps open on a pack.
- Ask damage dealers to focus your Primal Bite target; Swipe only covers three enemies.
- Tauren War Stomp works in form: a second way to stop casts.
Watch out for
- Don't judge tankiness from beta numbers: Bear Form multiplies armour from buffs and consumables (known issue), and Tauren Endurance is mis-scaled in forms.
- Rage from damage taken was bugged low and is fixed (typical Druid gains more, balanced on 20-40% armour). Re-test your Rage on a pull.
- Demoralizing Roar causes threat. Faerie Fire generates threat in Bear Form (it caused none under the earlier known issue).
- Swipe's tooltip ignores attack power; the 3% scaling is real but small.
