World of Warcraft: Forever Raid Overview—Locations, Raid Sizes, and Attunement
WoW Forever's three level-60 raids open on December 9: Barrow Deeps for 10 players, Hyjal Summit for 20 and Onyxia's Lair for 40. Blizzard gives each one's location and boss count, plans a weekly reset for all three, and lists every quest in the faction chains for the Drakefire Amulet that Onyxia's Lair requires.
Highlights
- All three raids open on December 9, for level 60 characters
- Barrow Deeps: 10 players, eight bosses, entrances from Mount Hyjal, Winterspring and Blackmaw Hold
- Hyjal Summit: 20 players and 13 bosses, with a choice of paths up the mountain
- Onyxia's Lair: 40 players, and every raider must carry the Drakefire Amulet
- The amulet only has to be in your bags, not equipped
- Every raid is currently planned to reset weekly
The three raids
Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair all open on December 9, each for level 60 characters and each at one fixed size: 10, 20 and 40 players. Blizzard says the gap after launch is meant to give players time to reach 60 and gather a group, and that every raid is currently planned to reset once a week.
Barrow Deeps
A 10-player raid in the prison under Mount Hyjal that held Illidan Stormrage, now opened. It has eight bosses and three ways in, through Mount Hyjal, Winterspring and Blackmaw Hold.
Hyjal Summit
A 20-player raid at the top of Mount Hyjal, near Nordrassil, with 13 bosses. It opens with a fight against an ancient guardian, then lets the raid pick between several routes across the mountain, through ruins both above and below ground, before the last encounters.
Onyxia's Lair
A 40-player raid in Dustwallow Marsh against Onyxia alone, in three phases. Blizzard advises raiders to build up fire resistance first and to be ready to move as the fight changes. Every member of the raid needs the Drakefire Amulet to enter; it only has to be in the inventory, not worn.
Onyxia attunement: Alliance
Start in the Burning Steppes with "Dragonkin Menace" from Helendis Riverhorn, then follow the six quests named "The True Masters" to Marshal Maxwell at Morgan's Vigil. He sends you into Blackrock Depths for "Marshal Windsor", and Windsor sends you back with "Abandoned Hope". A Crumpled Up Note drops from enemies in Blackrock Depths and starts "A Crumpled Up Note", which goes to Windsor in his cell. "A
Shred of Hope" takes his lost information from Golem Lord Argelmach and General Angerforge, and "Jail Break!" gets him out and back to Maxwell.
Maxwell then sends you to the Stormwind city gates with "Stormwind Rendezvous", and you need allies for "The Great Masquerade". Highlord Bolvar Fordragon follows with "The Dragon's Eye", and the last quest, "Drakefire Amulet", sends you into Upper Blackrock Spire to take the Blood of the Black Dragon Champion from General Drakkisath.
Onyxia attunement: Horde
Start with "Blood and Thunder" from Warlord Goretooth in Kargath, in the Badlands, which leads straight into "Warlord's Command" in Lower Blackrock Spire. After reporting to Eitrigg and Thrall in Orgrimmar, "For the Horde!" sends you back to Blackrock Spire for the head of Warchief
Rend Blackhand. Then come "What the Wind Carries" and "The Champion of the Horde", finding Rexxar on the roads of Desolace, and "The Testament of Rexxar" for Myranda the Hag in the Western Plaguelands.
Myranda gives "Oculus Illusions", for Black Dragonspawn Eyes. In "Emberstrife" you use the Amulet of Draconic Subversion to find the drake Emberstrife in Dustwallow Marsh, who sets four quests starting with "The Test of Skulls" against Scryer, Somnus, Chronalis and Axtroz. "Ascension..." gives the Dull Drakefire Amulet to take back to Rexxar, and "Blood of the Black Dragon Champion" sends you to Upper Blackrock Spire for General Drakkisath. Rexxar then hands over the Drakefire Amulet.
Before you start
Each chain is faction-specific and is done by every player who wants to enter. Blizzard advises starting early, taking friends along for the elite quests, and allowing for several trips into high-level dungeons.
