Overview
The Western Plaguelands are a land of withered farms and fallen towns, contested by the Scourge, the Scarlet Crusade and the Argent Dawn. The necromancers of Scholomance make it a perilous place.

Lore
Andorhal was once a hub of the grain trade for Lordaeron's northern provinces. The Cult of the Damned poisoned the grain shipped from it to carry the plague across the kingdom, and Kel'Thuzad, on Ner'zhul's orders, brought plague cauldrons to the villages the cult controlled.
Caer Darrow is the largest Scourge-held area here, and beneath it lies Scholomance, an underground school of necromancy run by the undead.
The Argent Dawn works against the Scourge here, and heroes of both Alliance and Horde serve it. The Scarlet Crusade made Mardenholde Keep in Hearthglen a regional headquarters after Lordaeron fell.
