Lore

The volcano of Blackrock Spire formed when Thaurissan summoned Ragnaros, whose power melted nearby mountains. In the Second War the Horde used the spire as a base until the Alliance besieged it, and Orgrim Doomhammer slew Anduin Lothar near the volcano.

The Blackrock orcs later returned to the region, and the black dragonflight now controls much of the steppes alongside them. Blackrock Pass links the Steppes to Redridge.
