Onyxia's Lair

Getting there

The entrance is in Dustwallow Marsh, at 52.3, 76.1 on the zone’s map.

Who to bring

Onyxia cannot be taunted, so the main tank holds her by threat alone, and two of her abilities cost that tank threat. Bring tanks who build threat fast and keep a second one ready.

• A Priest's Fear Ward on the main tank stops a phase 3 fear from turning her toward the raid. Every Priest has Fear Ward in Forever. Horde groups can also drop Tremor Totems.
• Onyxia is immune to fire, so a Fire Mage deals no damage here. Mages are still the best answer to the whelps, with area damage.
• Fire resistance gear and Greater Fire Protection Potions are worth it for the tanks; for everyone else they are a comfort, not a requirement.
• Two groups, each with an area-damage class, a tank and a healer, handle the whelps in phase 2.
• Each character needs the Onyxia attunement; it is not account-wide at launch.

1. Onyxia face her to the wall, spread for Fireballs, step off the breath line, kill the whelps and ward the tanks against the fears.

Lore

Onyxia is the daughter of Deathwing, the black Dragon Aspect. While her brood nests in this cave, she walks Stormwind's court in human form as Lady Katrana Prestor, steering the kingdom's nobles toward her own ends. Her lair holds her eggs, her guards and Onyxia herself, coiled over a floor of cracked lava rock.
