Shadow Priest: Macros
Keys for Shadow, ready to paste into the game's macro window: the spec's own, then the ones every Priest shares.
Type /macro in chat to open the macro window, make a new macro, and paste the body in. #showtooltip gives the button the spell's icon. A macro holds 255 characters. Each says whether it has been tested in WoW Forever; most have not yet.
A good first macro
Shadow Word: Pain on mouseover, then target#showtooltip Shadow Word: Pain /stopattack /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm,nodead] Shadow Word: Pain
Keep it up on whatever you are fighting without changing target; the enemy under your cursor first, then your target. It stops the wand first, so use the wand key after. Untested
Uses:
Shadow Word: Pain
Core rotation
Mind Blast on mouseover, then target#showtooltip Mind Blast /stopattack /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm,nodead] Mind Blast
Your quick burst spell on a short cooldown, aimed at the mouseover or target. It stops the wand first so the cast is not interrupted. Untested
Uses:
Mind Blast
Mind Flay without the wand#showtooltip Mind Flay /stopattack /cast Mind Flay
Channels
Mind Flay on your target and stops the wand so nothing interrupts it. Press it once and wait; pressing again mid-channel restarts the channel. Untested
Needs
Mind Flay.
Uses:
Mind Flay
Devouring Plague on mouseover, then target#showtooltip Devouring Plague /stopattack /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm,nodead] Devouring Plague
Damage over time that also heals you; use it at the start of a fight. It has a 24 second cooldown, so press it once and move on. Untested
Uses:
Devouring Plague
Shadow Word: Death#showtooltip Shadow Word: Death /stopattack /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm,nodead] Shadow Word: Death
Finisher for a nearly dead enemy. If it fails to kill, you lose 10% of your maximum health. Untested
Uses:
Shadow Word: Death
Interrupts and control
Silence target or mouseover#showtooltip Silence /stopcasting /cast [mod:shift,@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm,nodead] Silence
Healing and support
Heal out of
Shadowform#showtooltip Flash Heal /cancelform /cancelaura Shadowform /cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Flash Heal
Shadowform blocks healing, so this drops it first and then heals the friend under your cursor, your target or you. Both cancel lines are there because it is not known which one drops the form. Untested
Needs
Shadowform.
Uses:
Flash Heal
Utility
Shadowform back#showtooltip Shadowform /cast [noform] Shadowform
Press after healing to return to
Shadowform. It does nothing while you are already in it, so it cannot cancel the form by accident. Untested
Needs
Shadowform.
Uses:
Shadowform
Every Priest
#showtooltip Shoot /cast !Shoot
Starts the wand and keeps it going; pressing it again does not switch it off. Stand still, because the wand needs half a second without moving before it fires. Untested
Smite that keeps the wand safe#showtooltip Smite /stopattack /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead][harm,nodead] Smite
Smite the enemy under your cursor, or your target. The
Smite key stops the wand first so it does not swing at the same time. Untested
Uses:
Smite
Psychic Scream that stops your cast#showtooltip Psychic Scream /stopcasting /cast Psychic Scream
Emergency key for when enemies close in: it drops your cast and fears everything nearby. The catch is that it cancels your cast even when
Psychic Scream is on cooldown. Untested
Uses:
Psychic Scream
Shackle Undead with a remembered target#showtooltip Shackle Undead /focus [mod:ctrl,harm,nodead] /cast [mod:ctrl,harm,nodead][@focus,harm,nodead][harm,nodead] Shackle Undead
Ctrl-press sets your current target as focus and shackles it; later presses shackle the focus even after you change target. Re-shackle before the old one breaks, because
Shackle Undead holds only undead. Untested
Uses:
Shackle Undead
Renew on mouseover, target or you#showtooltip Renew /cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Renew
Puts
Renew on the friend under your cursor, then your friendly target, then you. Hold the cursor on the right friend, because a mouseover out of range can land on your target instead. Untested
Uses:
Renew
Fade that stops your cast#showtooltip Fade /stopcasting /cast Fade
