Known issues: parrying from behind
Blizzard's 1 October update to the known-issues list adds a long list of new problems. Enemies can parry and block from behind at close range, chained casts delay the next spell's effects, Dual Wield Specialization gives hit chance to both hands and
Retribution Aura uses the target's spell power. The install is also larger than intended.
Highlights
- Enemies can parry and block from behind when the player stands close
- Chained casts delay the next spell's precast visuals and sounds
- Dual Wield Specialization gives hit chance to both hands, not just the off-hand
Retribution Aura uses the target's spell power rather than the
Paladin's
Faerie Fire,
Demoralizing Shout and other debuffs generate no threat- The full install is bigger than intended
What this means for players
Melee players on the beta should not stand too close behind a target until the parry and block bug is fixed.
Warriors and
Paladins should note the Dual Wield Specialization and
Retribution Aura bugs before trusting beta numbers. Whether each issue is fixed by launch is not stated.

Audio and graphics
- When you chain casts, the next spell's precast visuals and sounds wait until the first cast ends. Blizzard's example is two
Fireballs cast back to back, where the glow and crackle of the second only start once the first cast's animation is over. Reported
Dwarf player characters lack the updated water splash sounds. Blizzard says a later build fixes it. Reported - Anduin Wrynn and many other child characters are wearing hats by mistake, and Blizzard is removing them. Reported
Classes
- Enemies can parry and block attacks from behind when the player stands close to them. Until a fix, Blizzard suggests not standing too close. Reported
- Eureka does not apply to every damaging or healing spell for some classes. Blizzard says a later build fixes it. Reported
- Several debuffs, such as
Faerie Fire and
Demoralizing Shout, generate no threat. Reported
General fixes
- The full WoW: Forever install is bigger than intended; Blizzard says it is working to shrink it in a future beta update. Reported
Gamepad
- Turning Gamepad UI mode on or off puts the active edit mode layout back to the default preset. Reported
Items
- Scroll of Liminal Passage does not work correctly. Reported
Mage
Mages who learn Research can be blocked from using it. Reported
Warrior
- Dual Wield Specialization adds hit chance to both the main hand and the off-hand, when only the off-hand should get it. Reported
Paladin
Retribution Aura draws on the spell power of the target rather than that of the
Paladin. Reported
World and quests
- The Taillasher Eggs for the quest Break A Few Eggs take longer to respawn than intended. Blizzard says a later build fixes it. Reported
