Fire Mage: Macros

Keys for Fire, ready to paste into the game's macro window: the spec's own, then the ones every Mage shares.

Type /macro in chat to open the macro window, make a new macro, and paste the body in. #showtooltip gives the button the spell's icon. A macro holds 255 characters. Each says whether it has been tested in WoW Forever; most have not yet.

A good first macro

Fireball, Shift for Pyroblast, Ctrl for Fire BlastFrom level 20

Mash for Fireball; Shift opens with Pyroblast, Ctrl is the instant Fire Blast for when you are moving or a mob is nearly dead. Without Pyroblast trained, Shift does nothing. Untested

Needs Pyroblast.

Cooldowns and burst

Combustion with trinkets, then FireballFrom level 40

Pops trinkets and Combustion, then keeps casting: Fireball, or Scorch while Shift is held. Press it at the start of a fight that will last. Untested

Counterspell that cuts your own castFrom level 24

Stops the spell you are casting so Counterspell lands at once, on the mob under your cursor or else your target. Press it the moment an enemy starts a cast; it has a long cooldown. Untested

Polymorph the mob under the cursorFrom level 8

Sheeps the mob you are pointing at without changing your target, or your target if you are pointing at nothing. Only one Polymorph holds at a time, so a second press moves it. Untested

Frost Nova, hold Ctrl to BlinkFrom level 20

Press for Frost Nova when mobs reach you, hold Ctrl for Blink to get clear. Blink first, then Nova, is the escape pair. Both cancel the cast you are making. Untested

Arcane Intellect on a friend, mouseover or selfFrom level 1

Buffs the friend under the cursor, else your friendly target, else yourself. Re-press after the hour runs out. Untested

Remove Lesser Curse on a friendFrom level 18

Cleanses a curse from the friend under the cursor, else your target, else you. It also removes Warlock Banes, so it covers more than the name says. Untested

Right-click conjures Conjure Water, or Conjure Food with Shift; left-click eats or drinks. The item names are the top-rank ones, so edit them to the food and water in your bags. Untested

Uses the best mana gem in your bags; lines for gems you do not hold fail harmlessly. Gems share one cooldown, so press it when you are low, not on pull. Untested

WandFrom level 1

Starts the wand and keeps it going; pressing it again does not switch it off. Use it to finish a mob when you are out of mana. Untested

Teleport home (Horde)From level 30

Plain press for Teleport: Orgrimmar, Shift for Undercity, Ctrl for Thunder Bluff. Each costs a rune you must carry; the Alliance version is the next macro. Untested
