"Go Again!" World of Warcraft: Forever Hardcore Panel | BlizzCon 2026
Summary
Blizzard's BlizzCon Hardcore panel said Hardcore will not be in WoW Forever at launch, and showed a countdown warning before the world around you refreshes. A dead Hardcore character can move to another ruleset, and Legacy points move one way only. The panel also covered what the beta will test.
Highlights
- Hardcore is not in at launch; the developers said it will follow soon after.
- A warning window counts down (the example given starts at 3 minutes) before the world around you refreshes and creatures respawn, with a button to confirm you are somewhere safe.
- The refresh warning was built for Hardcore but works across the whole game, and Blizzard said it will test it in the beta.
- A Hardcore character that dies can be moved to PvP, Normal or RP rather than only PvE.
- Legacy points and collections earned outside Hardcore do not carry into it, while those earned in Hardcore carry out to the other rulesets; a Legacy point is earned at level 25 on a class even if the character later dies.
- Blizzard plans Hardcore-specific Legacy challenges for when Hardcore launches, since PvP challenges cannot be done there.
